Story
Hi friends, I'm taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2013 and hoping to raise much needed funds for charity.
This September, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling 42.2km course over the Harbour Bridge, around Sydney's CBD and finishing at the Opera House steps...
I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.
As you know Autism has directly affected my family. I also work with quite a few children on the Autism spectrum. There is no doubt that Autism has changed my life. I now have a clearer view of what is important , what I want to do with my life and am deeply moved and encouraged by the children that I know and work with that continue to inspire me everyday. I chose Autism Spectrum Australia as my charity as my own daughter was a very lucky recipient of their amazing early intervention program for quite a few years. The dedication of the staff and the support of the service has made an amazing difference in the way that my daughter is now and the kind of life she is living. I have spent alot of months training for this run and if, God williing I make it to race day I would like to know that I did it to raise much needed funds that can make a massive impact on a child's life just like it did for my daughter.
Please consider giving to this cause, even if it is a few dollars. Everything helps.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability characterised by marked difficulties in social interaction, impaired communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours and sernsory sensitivities. Research shows that about 1 in 100 children, almost 230,000 Australians have an ASD and that it is more prevalent in boys than girls. The effects of an ASD can often be minimised by early diagnosis and with the right interventiosn many children and adults with an ASD show marked improvements.
